2. Mary J Blige – Stronger With Each Tear;
3. Drake – So Far Gone;
4. Robbie Williams – Reality Killed The Video Star;
5. The Beatles – Greatest Hits (Remastered);
This week we shift to some pop releases starting with Alicia Keys and Mary J Blige. Then we move over to Drake and Robbie Williams on numbers three and four. And finally something classic – a last year Beatles remastered greatest hits compilation is number 5.

3. The Men Who Stare At Goats (R5);
4. 2012 (R5);
5. The Hurt Locker (DVDRip);
Numbers one, three and five are still occupied by Sherlock Holmes, The Men Who Stare At Goats and The Hurt Locker. 2012 went down from number two to number four and number two is no occupied by Daybreakers a vampire movie newcomer!

Number one is the smash pop hit album by Lady Gaga, we hope it will make the winter a little bit warmer! Then on number 2, 3 and 4 – Lil Wayne goes hand in hand with Young Money and Ludacris, with some fresh releases. And in the end a deluxe edition of Ke$has Animal! Enjoy!
Our Top 5 Movies
We made a small break but from this week we will restore our Top 5’s.
1. Sherlock Holmes (Discrete);
2. 2012 (R5);
3. The Men Who Stare At Goats (R5);
4. District 9 (DVDRip);
5. The Hurt Locker (DVDRip);
Surprisingly we are missing the TS of Avatar, but it must be a temporary index problem.
Number one is the new Sherlock Holmes, actually a nice and entertaining movie. Then we have last year major box office hit – 2012. Number three is a promising, but actually disappointing comedy – The Men Who Stare At Goats. Great actors, but the movie is somehow lame. Four and five are occupied by District 9 and The Hurt Locker, this probably also happened due to weird index disturbances.
Some New Features!
We plan to start writing about new added features every week, but can think of a special announcement day, so we’ll just make some random minor announcements.
In case you didn’t noticed, we made some changes in commenting torrents last week. From now on you can vote for the comment and eventually the false comments will be dropped from the thread. We also added a Family Safety Filter (still in beta, check settings), for the ones who don’t want to see any adult content.
Kickass Lite!
You know during the long history of beer the invention and popularization of lite beer for some reason happened only in the 20th century. But over the years it proved to be a good decision and now it is way more popular than other types of beer. So at KickassTorrents we decided to uses this successful idea and make a Lite Version of our website!
If you always felt that the original Kickass homepage is too heavy for you – enjoy the Kickass Lite!
Welcome to 2010!
Due to some stereotypes of 80th sci-fi movies years like 2010 or 2030 often show us a word drowned in anarchy and chaos. So we decided to start this year with bringing more order to KickassTorrents. From now on you can report any users with a help of a “Report User” link right on his or her profile (first one under the username). We hope that this option will make the site cleaner and help us to get rid of numerous fakes.
And of course… Happy New Year everyone!
Our Special Holiday Tops
First of all we would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
Due to some technical issues we were unable to add the Top 5 movies in time so we decided to make a special Christmas double Music-Movie Top. This is actually has nothing to do with inner ratings, just a list of movies and music that we recommend for Christmas holidays.
Movies
1.How Grinch Stole The Christmas (the original one);
2. Miracle on 34th Street;
3. It’s a Wonderful Life;
4. Home Alone;
5. The Nightmare Before Christmas;
Number one is the original version of How Grinch Stole the Christmas. It’s literally a must-see classic! Another two classics – Miracle on 34th Street and It’s a Wonderful Life follow. These two are like definitions of the good Christmas movie! Number four is Home Alone, it is not the quite usual Christmas movie, but it is awesome! The Nightmare Before Christmas is number five, a suitable movie for both Christmas and Halloween. Dark, edgy and with some of the best songs ever written.
Music
1. Frank Sinatra – The Christmas Album;
2. Elvis Presley – Elvis Christmas Album;
3. Phil Spector – A Christmas Gift for You;
4. Nat King Cole – The Christmas Song;
5. Bing Crosby – White Christmas;
As for music we stuck to classics. All these artists have songs that we mostly associate with Christmas, so they got into the Top 5.
Music Top 5
This week mostly a hip-hop top!
1. Timbaland – Shock Value II;
2. Lil Wayne – No Ceilings;
3. Kid Cudi – Man on the Moon The End of Day;
4. Three Days Grace – Life Starts Now;
5. Snoop Dogg – Malice N Wonderland;
This week the top is three good releases of mainstream hip-hop, one alternative hip-hop and three days grace just to please the fans of alternative rock.
Our Top 5 Movies
Another Top 5 with a small delay
1. 2012 (R5 DVDRip);
2. Funny People (DVDRip);
3. Zombieland (DVDRip);
4. Paranormal Activity (DVDScr);
5. Ice Age 3 (DVDRip);
It is not surprising that the DVDRip of 2012 is dominating this week top. Even the CAMRips of this movie were popular, so a first proper DVDRip is truly an awesome Christmas present. Another hyped movie – Paranormal Activity keeps the number three. As for the rest of the week top, people are shifting from nazi murderers and dramas to comedies with Ice Age 3, Funny People and Zombieland.
Nearly Broke Into Top 10!
It’s end of the year and the guys at Torrentfreak made a list of 25 Most Popular Torrent Sites of 2009. We are listed under number 11. Which sadly just a step away from getting into top 10, but still awesome.
Once again thanks to everyone who supports us!
Music Top 5
New week, new top!
1. Chris Brown – Graffiti;
2. 50 Cent – Before I Self Destruct;
3. 30 Seconds To Mars – This Is War;
4. Gucci Mane – State Vs. Radric Davis;
5. Michael Jackson – This Is It;
We gave the first two numbers this week to controversial records by Chris Brown and 50 Cent. Not quite praised by the press, but topping the seeder numbers, these records should be checked out. Number three is the new 30 Seconds To Mars record, if you happen to be into spacey alternative rock or just some good emotional rock music, you’ll like this record. Fours is Gucci Mane, nothing exceptional, just a good popular hip-hop record. Finally number five is Michael Jacksons – This Is It collection released a while ago. Lot of demos, lot of hits a great record for all the fans of good pop music.
No Problems and a New Community
Finally we moved to a new hosting and right now there are almost no annoying problems.
Still we never stop working and right now we are aiming at improving our community. We see a lot of positive comments and messages from our users and visitors, which clearly indicates that our “only the best for our users” strategy works. Still we try to make everything even better, from now on every user of our community has a possibility to propose his global or minor forum improvements in a special thread. After a while we will restructure the forum according to the wishes of our users.

Our Top 5 Movies
New week – new top 5.
1. Funny People (DVDRip);
2. Inglorious Basterds (DVDRip);
3. 2012 (CAM);
4. American Pie: The Book of Love (DVDRip);
5. Ice Age 3 (DVDRip);
First place is still dominated by Funny People, which proves that Adam Sandler still manages to make some good movies. Second place is a living classic – Inglorious Basterds; I think it will be in our tops for the rest of the year. Number three is the overhyped 2012 with only one true CAMRip remaining. Number four is the new American Pie movie and on number five the still popular summer hit – Ice Age 3.
As you see right now the industry is a bit relaxed after 2012, but preparing to strike again with Avatar. You can expect a heavy assault of Avatar fakes soon, so make sure that you get only verified torrents.
Fixing Problems
Many of our our users are very displeased with constant website problems, so we decided to make an official statement.
When we started KickassTorrents, we had a goal to create something more that “just another torrent site”. We wanted to create a website that would be both user friendly and technically advanced. So accurate work, careful planning and thinking ahead were the initial cornerstones of KickassTorrents. Of course our tech crew predicted the growth of our popularity, still we were sure that our current resources will be able to handle the number of users at least for few more months. Unfortunately we couldn’t predict the situation with The Pirate Bay and the legalization of Mininova, so we were truly surprised with the tsunami of users.
At KickassTorrents we always try to provide only the best solutions for our users, so naturally we haven’t just moved the first available bigger hosting. During the last week we were planning all the details of our expand and upcoming upgrades. Right now we are moving to a new platform that will nor only make the website stable, but will also give us a great possibility to expand our website even more.
We want to thank all our supporters, our verified uploaders and especially our young community moderation crew, that is constantly working to make our friendly friendly and comfortable. And we guarantee that your patience will be rewarded with an even bigger and better KickassTorrents!
Some Numbers and a Shirt
A minor weekend update.
First of all we reached 300k registered users, Once again thanks to everyone for your support, we secretly hope that we’ll reach 500k in 2009.
Second, our friends at Bytelove began selling the KickassTorrents T-shirt. So just like the big sites we have our first merchandise. Everyone who gets one can post a picture in a t-shirt in a special thread, a bit later we will surprise the owners.
Hey Mr Big Executive…
Today I stumbled upon a funny article about how piracy actually helps the music industry. Some thoughts are funny some thoughts are true, but most important this article pushed me to put together some of my thoughts thoughts about “What will happen next?” and I decided to share them with our readers.
First of all the movies. As for the movie companies they will have it easier, a movie is a… lets call it “difficult download”. It takes some space, it takes some time to download and finally it takes some time to find a proper version (especially if it is a new hot movie). So movie companies are moving towards making more and more special effects loaded blockbusters, that are naturally better to watch only as blu-ray or in cinema. Still eventually the movie companies might find it better to occupy the online cinema niche, but only when the web ill allow to watch movies in some extra high-quality.
Music is an easier product. In case of music industry the whole work scheme has to change because music is easier to download and though it is hard to control music leaks and downloading. In the New Copyright Order bands should be paid for their music directly (right now NIN and Radiohead are practicing this) and from this money they will be paying a share to the management. This will lead to a big cleansing in both music management and music itself. Only the bands that are capable of being popular will remain. It will save thousands of dollars that management wastes on promotion if wannabe stars and also keep the radio cleaner from overplayed and annoying pop music. As for the “dinosaurs”, the labels will mutate to a more independent companies that are not earning fortunes, but looking and promoting talented artists. Just like it was during the 50th or the 70th, which are now often labeled as the golden years of music.
I’m not quite an expert in music and movie industry, but this article is more of possible scenario thoughts and
who knows maybe it will really end like this.
Have a great weekend!
Music Top 5
Thursday and some hot kickass music!
1. Susan Boyle – I Dreamed a Dream;
2. Foo Fighters – Greatest Hits;
3. Lil Wayne – No Ceilings;
4. Leona Lewis – Echo;
5. Robbie Williams – Reality Killed the Video Star;
Number one this week goes to my personal favorite YouTube video hero of 2009 – Susan Boyle. Just in case you missed her, you just need to watch her spectacular performance on Britain Got Talent. And finally there is an album of songs covered by this common lady with spectacular voice. Second are the Foo Fighters with Greatest Hits, a nice plate to remember all the great songs that this alternative rock band recorded during their career. Number three goes to a final full release of Lil Wayne’s no Ceilings and number four to a great pop album by Leona Lewis – Echo. Number five is Robbie Williams, of course today he is not quite on top of his game, but he still makes some good music.
Our Top 5 Movies
Once again a Top 5 and this time an interesting Top 5.
1. Funny People (DVDRip);
2. American Pie: The Book of Love (DVDRip);
3. Inglorious Basterds (DVDRip);
4. 2012 (HQ TS 1, HQ TS 2, CAM);
5. Precious (DVDScr);
Well this week has some newcomers. First of all the top place is rapidly taken by Funny People, I still haven’t seen it yet, but it seems to be a good movie. Number two is a new American Pie movie, well for me the whole series died somewhere around the second movie, so the popularity of the new Pie surprised me. Number three goes to Inglorious Basterds, probably my movie of the year. Number four is 2012 with new HQ TeleSync rips. And finally number five is Precious – a dark and disturbing drama, actually so dark and disturbing, that I’m not interested in seeing it.
